Federal Blvd Parkway Setback Public Meeting October 27th

Earlier in 2009, the Federal Boulevard Partnership sponsored discussions with Denver Parks and Recreation about the Federal Blvd Parkway and associated setback restrictions. The Partnership is fully supportive of the Parkway and its importance in maintaining the history and integrity of the Boulevard. At issue is the setback requirement and the need for greater flexibility when applied to new development and/or redevelopment projects. The Parkway setback is a regulation governing the area between the city right-of-way through private party to a certain point; 20′ for most of Federal. The setback restriction has in one case at W. 27th and Federal required a new development to be constructed on stilts and another development across from Invesco be delayed and probably scuttled.

3rd New Denver Zoning Code and Map to be Released

In the next two weeks Denver’s proposed 3rd Edition of the new zoning code and map will be released for public comment. There are no additional Council District or Federal Boulevard Partnership sponsored meetings planned, only two city-wide public comment meetings in November.

During this past summer, the Partnership sponsored two public meetings resulting in the development of specific issues and recommendations, which was forwarded to Denver Planning and City Council September 18th. Find what we provided at: Partnership New Zoning Recommendations.

Zone Change Recommendations Provided to the City

At a September 15, 2009 public meeting new Denver zoning code recommendations were finalized. This was the second public meeting sponsored by the Federal Boulevard Partnership. Approximately 150 people participated in the process representing business, property and residential interests. The recommendations were provided to Peter Parks, Manager of Denver Planning and Development and city council representatives Rick Garcia, Judy Montero and Paul Lopez. New Denver Zoning Code
Public Meeting Garners Success

Over 90 people attended the Partnership sponsored meeting July 29 providing an overview to Denver’s proposed new zoning code and an opportunity to identify issues and make recommendations. Four separate groups broke-out in workshop sessions to study and discuss different sections of the Boulevard. Each group developed a set of issues and recommendations.
