Council Candidates to Maintain District Office?

The third question the Partnership posed to Council District One candidates regarded their intensions on having a district office, hours and additional work responsibilities. Those of you who have been around awhile might remember it used to be uncommon for district council members to maintain district-based offices and staff to manage constituent issues and be more accessible to the community.

Today’s specific question posed to candidates is: Will you be a full time council member and maintain a district office? If not, what are your office plans and how many hours per week will you commit to spend on council and district business?

Candidates Position on New Zoning Code Adoption

The second question the Partnership posed to Council District One candidates is their position on Denver’s new zoning code adoption. Denver has been in the process of zoning code revision and adoption for five years. For a primer of the reasons, see Rezoning Denver, Why, How and When? at Denver’s new zoning code Web site. During the summer of 2009, the Partnership sponsored a series of public meetings to discuss and make Recommendations. Today’s specific question posed to candidates is:

For several years Denver has been in the process of adopting a new zoning code. Council is expected to begin their review and deliberations in June, 2010. Due you support the adoption of the new code as it is currently written (4th edition) and is your position contingent on additional factors?

City Council Candidates Discuss Priorities

The Council District One race is in full swing! In the Partnership’s effort to provide candidate positions and information to the Federal Boulevard and greater northwest Denver community, we have posed five questions to candidates. We are also providing a “one stop shop” for citizens desiring council candidate information by providing candidate bio summaries and Web site links—all in the right-hand sidebar titled “Candidate Central”.

Over the next two weeks, the Partnership will provide candidate answers to each question. The first question is, What are your top three priorities for the district and why?
